David Fuller and D Holley have given us an honest glimpse of what it takes to unleash a major move up the charts and what a move they have made. Although these repsonses are posted below we thought it was important for all to take a peak inside a trainer who has learned to capture the "goods" that we all would like to have...additionally, we have reread these several times and frankly we are thankful for their insights and giving us a few tips and their thought process that have gotten them to this point...[and please feel free to add any thoughts that you might have below and if they are of value to the discussion I will continue to add to this internal posting - of course that means based on my judgement, so plese forgive if I misstep].
Well Rick, my secret is well known. I told everyone a few months ago what I planned to do. I had a very strong sprint breeding program in the game I was playing back then were I was breeding around 10 sprinters per season. Because of this other areas were suffering (milers, 1m2f, 1m4f and stayers). Not wanting to sacrifice my sprinting program, I decided I would split my stable in three, one for sprinters, one for milers/1m2f and one for 1m4f/stayers so I could breed a dozen or more of each on a seasonal basis. Also because I had 3 such stables, I could train more specifically without harming other areas. My staying program was only 50 seasons old and they are amongst the best, if not the best, to emerge in SOPL. In these mere 50 seasons I would have bred 500-600 stayers which is probably more than the average player would breed as far as stayers go over 200 seasons. Percentages say if you are breeding 15 stayers a season, you are going to run across top liners regularly and when you breed those top liners into others, pretty soon you have an awesome breeding program. My milers and 1m2f horses were only 55 seasons old and they improved leaps and bounds. My top miler is within two lengths of the very best and although nowhere in the Coulson league, my 1m2f horses have improved enough to the extent where I was able to qualify one of them. Ironically my sprinters which I considered my strength are now my weakness, but in all fairness I didnt put anywhere near the commitment into them as I did in getting the other two up and running. Of course with the new game with 60 racing spots and an very large breeding barn as well I wont need to go to these measures and can establish excellent breeding programs over all distances.
May the horse be with you...

Well here is my game plan when im looking for league horses
When starting a new game the first thing i do is try and make enough money to buy afew horses
after that i will sell them to make afew million Now i have afew million in the bank
This is what i do I buy all the horses over £100k in the start of season auctions
and if they do well in the races below i then export and trail them
Sprinters -Dubai golden shaheen - Temple stakes - King geogre stakes
Milers - Godoplin Mile - 1000 Guineas/2000 Guineas
1m2f - UAE Derby - Eclipse stakes
1m4f - Chester Vase - Oaks/Epsom Derby
2m - Queens Vase- Goodwood Cup
somtimes i export them before tho (after One Race when fit)
Main reason for this is you could have a top class horse running over 6f
(100% Speed - 10% Stam - 70% Acc)
but its breeding is 1m1f this horses bars could easily change on Auto Training and then become a 1m1f runner
this is something you have to look out for before exporting
They as been many times where this as happened to me its very annoying too
because once the bars change there unlikely to change back and 9 out of 10 the horse is then useless
I have never really been into the manual training or breeding part of the the game tho
but saying that i will be making the effort in the new game because i believe this is the way forward
of beeing the number one trainer in the league you only have to look
what D Fuller and S Coulson have done with a good breeding program
Well there is my way of doing things i wouldnt say there is any serects tho
because probably alot of people know and do what i have just said
Just relying on alot of luck hoping one of 10-20 horses comes good
Goodluck with the new season all should be the best yet

What a fine Championship Series we have; however, what is more interesting is what is coming to pass. We want to start with the Trainer Results from the Trails (placings only):

We are looking for two things, first we suspect that while there maybe trainers who are all around trainers, there are those with special distance bents. Second, the guard is changing and see who has "kicked it up a notch". Lets take alook.
Sprints DHooley appears to have advanced
Mile Dominated by RCambell and RWood
1m2f Controlled completely by SCoulson and its not even close
1m4f Slightly open with a nod to SCoulson
Stayers Now "Fully" controlled by DFuller
Two of these did not even break the top 5 during Season III DHooley and DFuller and one won as many races as we did during Season III - two. Hopefully by next write up we will have an interview with both as we try to research what they have done to turn the tables maybe some secrets.
