I found this website the other day:
www.japanracing.jp
Under "Racecourse & OTBs" it lists major JRA tracks as well as local governed tracks. Each listing includes photo's and layout of the tracks. So far I have identified these GR2004 US tracks and which Japanese track they are patterned after:
-Boston = Sapporo
-Philadelphia = Niigata
-Toronto = Hanshin
-Miami = Nakayama
-Washington, D.C. = Tokyo
-New Orleans = Chukyo
-San Francisco = Kyoto
Some of the tracks, especially the smaller dirt one's, are very similar in layout and circumference. Therefore, they are hard to tell apart. Have a look at the website and you will recognize the tracks you have been racing on.
As for other tracks, I find it interesting that the GR2004 Sydney track is actually Moonee Valley which is in Melbourne! Maybe they were saving the Melbourne name for a future addition of the Melbourne cup - We can only hope!
