Is there? The option for gender and
Maybe the horses heads could move a bit more realistic while they gallop
and the slots for more characters to make longer names would've been nice. Other than that I don't know so you tell me.
I know this is supposed to a review for the wii version, but i don't own a wii yet and the ps2 version is the closest you're going to get to it so here goes...
I was so excited about the game because of the little I've read and seen about and from it. The thing that also made my interest peak was the new approach of the game's graphics.
Unlike the various other games I own like the Gallop Racer Series, G1 Jockey, and others, this game is the new kid on my block because the graphics are cell-shaded thus giving the game a cartoonish aspect. I love it!
You start off playing as a female blonde character named Lily. She's a sweet thing. She lives with her uncle on a ranch. At the opening of the game, a movie clip of a horse running and meeting her foal plays. When the game begins and scenes pass, that horse (which is a mare) becomes yours and you get to name her. This is just the beginning.
Your uncle will explain to you about breaking in a horse and using a technique in which to do so that was thought up by his idol, Grant. From there you also have to learn to care your horse by washing, brushing and cleaning her hooves. Theses activities are accomplished
by way of mini games which are simple yet fun. He tells you how to control your horse but it's pretty easy to get the hang of it from there.
You can't ride your horse (or any horse in the game) until they have been broken in. Once you can ride them
Once they are broken in, you will be able to ride them off the ranch. I'm not going to spoil everything for you but i will mention somethings that, if you are a horse lover, will peak your interest. .....you ready? scroll down
There is an awesome breeding program that allows you to mate horses, could be of your own, to get another champion. You will also care for the foal and train it for local and then international competitions to earn money to help your uncle out and you'll find out why.
I LOOOOVE the addition of breeding to the game because , in a way, gives you unlimited gameplay.
The scenery is also very beautiful and your horse, when completing a perfect jump, goes in a matrix-like slow motion. Like the movie, Spirit:Stallion of the Cimarron, the horses also show facial expression.
So far, the colors of horses I've seen in the game are:
-gray with black legs and muzzle
In the Wii version, from what I've seen, controlling the horse is realistic because the controllers act as the reins. Flicking them foward accelerates your horse while pulling them back quickly stops or slows your horse.
This is a wonderful game for all horse lovers alike. If you're a male and you love horses, don't miss out. Go to the store, say you're buying it for your girl or sister, isolate yourself and enjoy. No one has to know but you and the horses. Enjoy ;-)....... or you could just stick to games like gallop racer and g1 jockey where you have the option to state your proper gender.
