My first two legs went really well. Beatle Davy won the Qualifier (950m) race that he was in and Damsel Eyes won her Semi-Final (1000m) race. But the
Final is not a Sprint race, it is a Short (1300m) race. Damsel Eyes can go that distance, but her Experience in Short distances is only at Moderate whereas
her Sprint distance Experience is at Awe-Inspiring. Still with her Gate Speed at Moderate and her Acceleration at Reasonable and her Muscle Tone at Ordinary
she should be my obvious choice. The problem is what will be the final going of the race track. It has switched from Good to Fast in the last couple of days.
On Good tracks she is Awe-Inspiring, but on Fast tracks she is Miserable!
Beatle Davy on Short tracks and Fast and Good goings was a better choice, but it is too late because he is already booked to run in Tuesday's Class 1 race.
So my other choice is a 9yo mare by the name of Maestro. Her Gate Speed is Average, her Acceleration is Satisfactory and her Muscle Tone is Ordinary. Her
Short Experience Spectacular and her Experience on Good tracks is Acceptable and on Fast tracks it is Excellent. Now she seems on paper to be the obvious
choice to compete in the Finals. The only problem is that she doesn't have a history of winning. She just finished 4th in the SS Short Stakes (1350)
Qualifier so my confidence is not high on her coming through.
Granted, she did not have a really experienced jockey like the one that rode Beatle Davy and Damsel Eyes to victory in the Sprinters Shield races, I would use
that jockey for the finals except her Short Experience is only Underdone and she is only Awful on Good tracks and Average on Fast tracks. Weird! I just
realized that had her last three mounts win two Sprinters Shield races and the other one who is young, set a the Monterey Bay track record in the 1,050m. All
three races were on Good tracks which her Experience is Awful on. I WOULD be tempted to go with her winning trend except her Short Experience is only
Underdone unlike her Grand Sprint experience.
LOL Well I have dragged all of this out of my head and I STILL don't know what to do! Beatle Davy was the obvious choice, but I waited to long to decide
and now he is commited to the Class 1 race. I am tempted to go with my proven winner Damsel Eyes even though her Short Experience is only Moderate and her
Fast track Experience is Miserable.
Actually what I really want is an entry that can break into the top 3 finishing positions because I am having trouble imagining anyone beating 8yo gelding Nix
Elemental. That horse on paper anyway, looks totally unbeatable whether he is on a Fast or Good track!
