If the above does have to happen then I don't see Season II starting until we have more league-operating support. What I mean by that is that the league would be at that time, housed in the Starters Orders Pro League' Trainers Office Manager operating interface. Part of the reason is because our player base is just too small to get enough people who have both the time and inclination to do the labor intensive jobs in the league. We would also need the support of Strategic Designs in modifying the league-only Race Builder kit so that much of the manual labor would be removed from the league. The would reduce the number of staff needed and the amount of time the existing staff would need to put into the league each week. The size of the player base in the league would no longer be a factor whether the number was 10 trainers or 100 trainers.
I have created and run many leagues, but this one has had thrice the growing pains than any other. Having to have a Draw and a maximum of only 6 contestants per race in a game engine are of course, the main reasons for this league's struggles this entire time. It is incredibly labor intensive. So I am sorry that it might come to this. I do intend to reward all of you who have contributed your time with this league and would want to continue. What we have learned through your efforts will enable us in the end, to create the ideal multiplayer competition system for this greyhound racing game.
I have been so terribly busy with running the entire ORLWorld and handling my real world responsibilities, that this was the first time that I really set aside the time to truly play a game that we in the ORLWorld supported since I created this group 5 years ago. I had played Gallop Racer 2001 quite a bit and had a pretty good stables for our first two seasons, but that play time had been before the ORLWorld had been created. I took this time because this game really through me off guard when I played the demo. I had not expected it to be this good and I fell in love with it. I really do think it is a huge sleeper of a game and when the world's greyhound racing fans find out about it, they will be purchasing it in huge numbers.
I am telling you this so that you don't think that if I do have to drastically reduce the Inaugural season, that I would cancel the league as well. That is absolutely not the case. I will still work with DodgyDave the Trainers Office Manager creator and operator as well with Mark Loveday the creator of Greyhound Manager, to build the appropriate systems that will allow the Greyhound Pro League to one day be a very successful league. And Mark has come up with a brilliant marketing strategy for Greyhound Manager that would ensure that you all would many more players wanting to compete against you in Season II.
You all know about the support that game company is going to be giving to the two GR leagues for their next two seasons. The same amount of support will be coming to the GPL and the SOPL as well. I have not announced that fact ORLWorld-wide until I get official clearance to do so. The GPL & SOPL players will be getting trophies of the same quality that the LSL and LOC players will be getting.
So what I need from any of you who intend to participate in Week 11 is a posting below stating that you will be sending in nominations. If there are not enough, I will alter Week 11's schedule and the rest of the season so that it can more easily accommodate these existing number of players. I will then post the altered schedule for your viewing.
