Race-Card writeups
I know there's more writers out there than we see each week. Write-Ups must be in by Wednesday Midnight GMT (so DUS can have time to publish them in the top rate racecard). I will be locking the post after midnight, so no late entries.

So, each week after the racecard is published (or after Wednesday midnight GMT), all trainers will be asked to vote for their favourite/best writeup (to be decided by midday GMT on Saturday and you can't vote for yourself).

This will be three seperate competitions over the season.
Weeks 2 to 6 (inclusive) - The winner will be given the option for a cool €1m bonus or an extra horse upload at Week 8 window.
Weeks 7 to 12 (inclusive) - The winner will be given the option for a cool €1m bonus or an extra horse upload at pre Week 13 window.
Weeks 13 to 18 (inclusive) - The winner will be given the option for a cool €1m bonus or an extra horse upload at Week 1 the following season.

The most voted trainer each week will get 10 points and the 2nd most votes will earn 5. Winners will be announced in time to take advantage of the upload windows.

Wk3 R1 UAE Derby

Let Me Entertain You - Excellent win in the Lincoln last week. Daver Fuller has targetted this race. Very dangerous
Your Mince - Good show last week when 5th in 1m1f maiden last week. Up in class. Place prospects and best.
Red Bull - First time out for Pony and WhatsUpBoys. D&D horse from Dave Fuller so should have a good ability. Might need an extra furlong. Best watched.
Merve The Swerve - Towards the rear in both outings. Wont stay. Oppose.
Quality Street - Only seen once running over 7f in Week 1. Trip will suit though but will be a big surprise if thereabouts. No chance.
Astrid Nine - Two brilliant shows in Week 1 and Week 2. Trainer expecing more on turf. Should be in shakeup still.
Birkside - Near last in only start. Making up the numbers. No chance.
Oriental Rose - 3rd in 1m2f maiden in Week 1. Trainer quotes "loves dirt thats all it will be running on". One to watch.
Rushing Away - Consistent after two races. Trainer has big hopes. Keep close.
Pestral Dom - Debut in SOPL. Trainer has some good sorts so could surprise. Lively Outsider
Wrong Direction - One win from one after winning 1m4f maiden. Big drop in trip though. Trainer still confident as always. Best watched.
Late To The Party - Newbie trainer looks like he has some ok horses. Will be outclassed here though. One to watch in the Restricted/Banded races.
Victory Cube - No show in both starts which is a surprise coming from a top stable. Oppose.
Ramruma - Trainer confident and expecting improvement here. No show for me im affraid say.
Salli De La Kentu - Pulled up in the Masaka last week. Lovely filly. Will be outclassed here though. Place prospects at best.
By The Book - Very consistent and looks a top horse. The main danger to Let Me Entertain You. Dangerous. Will be in first two.
Global Snow - A day out for the horse. No chance.

Summary - Should be a good fought out race even though the field is small for a group race. For me its got to be Let Me Entertain You. Mr Fuller has targetted the race so should be class type on dirt. It was very impressive when winning the Lincoln last week. By The Book should push Mr Fullers horse from entertaining us. Red Bull is one to watch for me. Could be a lively outsider.

Wk3 R2 Dubai Sheema Classic

Red Hill - Two decent runs but may be just out of the money this time
Dalmina - chance of some miner prize money at best
Wam Bam Thank U Maam - real threat go against at your peril
Xom - big chance for this one, won LTO after good debut
Black Or White - Will need to improve to get near the top five.
Dubin Flyer - Has the form on dirt, the one they have to beat.
Spellbinding - No real magic from this one
Ashlyn - Another that will struggle to get in the top five
Twittle - Good win over 1m6f LTO but would be surprised if it won today.
Dark Sabath - Two duck eggs tells you all you need to know.
Legacy Lad - Excellent third FTO on dirt when running quite freely, one for the shortlist.
Berberis - Berberis…. A shrub not noted for its speed.

Summary - The Lisa Huff Maiden race is the best form indicator for this race. Dublin Flyer, Wam Bam Thank U Maam, Legacy Lad and Xom filled the first four places there. Twittle won over 1m6f and would have to be something special to drop back 2 furlongs and win again. Ridden with a little more restraint I can see Legacy Lad win this from Dublin Flyer and Wam Bam Thank U Maam.

Urgent Matter - more urgency required but doubt it will matter
All Black Magic - enough said. Champion, eh bro!
Kings Apple - in the mix
Ibn Khaldoun - Non, No, Nyet, ... no in any language
Armani - conditions to suit?
McMahon - McNot
Enchanted Storm - a storm would help if it knocked out the rest of the field
Cershall ... shall not
The A Train ... Class A trainer, Budget Class horse
Bahr - please use more vowels in your horses' names
May Day - multiple must
Polaris - missile or miss out?
Almost There - Almost is not good enough .. ask the AB's

Who else but a Kiwi should rightfully be analysing the World Cup, especially with the AB's yet again favorite. All Black Magic's chances are greatly enhanced by the lack of pommy officiating and dodgy South African food. In fact the only barns will be where the horses are eating and defecating which is somehow symbolic. Kings Apple has the form to recommend it, including beating ABM LTO IIRC. May Day will be letting out the distress signal over the last furlong but will be in with a chance at a minor. The smokey could well be Polaris which has snuck in under the radar - she was doing her best at the end of the Sefton. A Train has good credentials but this journey looks a little short. Apparently, Armani runs well on dirt and all grounds ... which reminds me of the English all rounders who can't bat, can't bowl, and can't field. Bahr has form on dirt and the trainer is talking her chances up too. Urgent Matter was supposed to run in a Banded Race at Waimarino but obviously the entries got mixed up. All Black Magic to prevail (no quarterfinals to worry about) with Kings Apple, Poloaris and May Day in the multiple mix.

Wk 3 Rosebery Hcp Stakes Race 6

Gold Craft: 2 miles too far FTO this trip more suitable, could be in shake up.
Bralino: Better effort over track 2nd start seems to have too much weight.
Sencapo: Didn't show much in a maiden LTO,wont be backing this.
Catch the baby: Outpaced over this trip latest, could be better on turf.Best watched.
DS Flyer: Ok performance Wk1+2 might need further or stiffer track.
No Moving: Good effort Wk 2 over this trip,Good chance.
Tweddletastic: Track/trip fine, nice win Wk1 "pushed out" could have more to come.Possible Fav.
Work out: Closely matched with No Moving on Wk2 running,getting 4lbs for 1and 1/4 lengths.Good chance.
T Lo: Sorry but no chance.
Ever Ever: Seemingly very good effort behind "By The Book"-2nd Fav for UAE Derby- hence quite alot of weight here.

Cinderella: Not much chance look elsewhere.

Supersonic: Trainer not expecting much.

Juande Ramos: Another who ran over too far Wk1.This more his trip and cant rule out even tho trainer says it wont like the track.

White Ridge: Big weight pull with Ever Ever and should get alot closer here.Possible for place.

Mighty Leader: Ditto above and was pulled up sore.Definite chance.
North Cove: Ran over too far Wk1 others prefered.
Earth Stopper: Expected better last Wk,dont fancy this.
Badly in Need: Not sure about track/trip,best left alone.
Isaac Asimov: Just about the best form on offer and another good performance looks assured.
Cooking: Too keen Wk1,ground wrong Wk2 needs improvement to figure here.
Morkel Boolaroo:Looks outclassed.

Conclusions: If By the Book were to win the UAE Derby it would suggest Ever Ever would hold solid claims but i think the weight might stop him.I like the form of ISAAC ASIMOV who looks to have a good winning chance along with WORK OUT with preference for the former.Tweddletastic if he shows any improvement is another with a chance but he wont be any value IMO.GOLD CRAFT who ran over the wrong trip FTO could well be a Hcp snip here and is worth backing E/W along with MIGHTY LEADER.

R21 The "Leon is sure to win this banded race"

Baby Blue - Out the back both starts more of the same
Scuppered - Hint of some form first start over this distance might sneak a place
Smash n Grab -Would need to stage a hold up to win this
Tamba - With Mulrennan up this should set the pace and will fade to last as a result
Big Pony - Big chance not to win this
Opulance - No grand victory here
Stayin Alive - Bit more promise than some could sneak a place
Oath of Secrecy - Big chance with Hughes up!!!
Flying Cat - Going to have to fly to win should run a place

Small field with not much form to go by. Flying Cat, Staying Alive and Scuppered all have bits of form in better races but they are all going to have to improve dramatically to beat Oath of Secrecy. She was fifth on debut after been 6 wide the whole race and not too far off them last time after another shocking ride. Many of the horses in this field have finished behind her already and with Richard Hughes taking the ride he should get the best out of her. My final verdict is Oath of Secrecy to win, ensuring a name change for this race, to be followed home by Flying Cat and Scuppered

R22 The Leon owns ESA banded handicap

Cahill - Doubt the increased distance will bring out any improvement
Monte Best - Will need to be at best to feature
Greavette - Trainer will get his wish with pacemaker jockey Mcevoy. Will she stay there. No,
Stripemeblue - Blue will be the feeling for the trainer after this race
Partygirl - No party for her
Spice Route - Tired late over further. This distance will be better. Big chance.
Vague - Too short last time. Big chance over this distance
Cressido - Pulled hard last time. Should be better over this distance
Budapest - Will not pester the principals. Likely to make it 3 from 3 in the last position
Holly Pepper - Stable specializes in Down under stable cast offs and this isn't one of them

An expected modest bunch of animals with the best form of any horses in this race coming over other distances. Greavette will ensure that there is a good pace under the front riding jockey Mcevoy but will fade away. Cressido had excuses last time where she pulled too hard and didn't see out the distances. She has a handy weight this time and is a big player. Vague ran a promising race at Wolverhampton 2 starts ago, his last run was too short. He has a very light weight but the booking of jockey, Eaves, raises concerns about his chances. Spice Route was still in with a shout before being run out of it close home last time and this shorter distance should be more to her liking. Culhane should get the best out of Spice Route and even though she has to give weight to all her rivals she should be good enough to win. Vague and Cressido will fill the minor placings.

R11 Baker Tilly Trophy

Quick Flick: Encouraging start to SOPL when reaching 4th at Newmarket and Alan Munro a positive booking, however this is a tougher field
and needs to put in a strong finish to get in contention, place at best here.

Dark Zulu: Not really a positive start at Newmarket last time and progress needs to be made, and with a field like this a place is the best prospect.

White lightning: Making his debut here, trainer rarely known to winners here, Dale Gibson is an interesting booking but best watched here.

Bang The Drum: Ran a stinker on his first appearance this season at Newmarket and the stiff competition won't help here, stable 12th in the winners championship with 1 winner, place at best though.

Leviathon: Definatly an encouraging start at last time out and no doubt that dcdean will be happy with that may need time to progress but it is insight, high chances here.

Gormenghast : Represents a stable that is 6th in the winners championship with 4 wins after a cracking win at Newmarket last time out in the Future Stars Colt Maiden beating several of the runners in this race, their is no reason why the race should not go his way, the one to beat.

Pacey Africa: Was running well at the start of his first run and you may have thought he had it in the bag when he struck the front half way, will need a slow pace to get into contention here and with horses like Gormenghast you can't really see him winning (trainer was shocked to see him beat three home so no confidence there, best watched.

Indian Queen: Horse making his debut and not a lot you can say as the trainer is yet to have a winner ever on SOPL and uploaded all his horses wrong, solid losing chances.

May We Go: Progressive sort, and deserves a place, he ran a good 5th in his last race and the trainer has had a winner will need softer ground to do well so trainer needs his fingers crossed for some rain here, place prospects.

Catch Me Lucy: Will need catching after a solid debut and no reason why he should not follow up on that win, trainer has had a good start to the season with 5 winners, defininate chance here.

Scroll Of Power: The form just speaks for itself and trainer no in contention for the trainers title, the underdog in this race and will be expected to loose.

Rhein Lady: Not a bad performance in her last effort when coming 8th of 20 last time out, everything would have to go his way the succeed here and her chances are not great place at best here.

Pillow: Beaten by a lenght last time out and progressionis in sight, an if he plays his cards right he could take the win, trainer has had 3 winners may take his chances in this one, leading contender.

Fully Loaded: Not a progressive looking horse and this may be a bit to much for her, nothing is on her side here and best watched.

Funseeker: I bet the trainer thought he was robbed of his winner last time out as he saw his filly get beaten by a length last time out but you could say that she could not get the extra furlong so this drop in distance maybe right up her alley, place prospects.

An interesting field in this with Gormenghast who after his win will be looking forward to this however, Catch Me Lucy won in good style on her debut and she will put up a stiff challenge, other contenders such as Leviathon, Pillow and Funseeker could deliver as well with good debut races.

Win Pick: Gormenghast

Race 3 - Dubai Golden Shaheen 6f Nad Al Sheeba (Dirt)

Jasmines Hero - Great form so far, winning 6f dirt maiden and only 2l 3^rd to the Dust monster in the Cammidge. Huge place chance.
Dirt Track Donkey - This donkey needs to learn to settle. If she does she will place for the Kiwi Pom from Oz. Did I get that right?
Bourbon - Twice staying on over the minimum trip so this shot at 6f makes sense. Still needs big improvement though.
Natalie - Natalie likes being 7^th and could make it the hat-trick here at best.
Salesca - Never mind Sales, couldn't give this one away.
See Ye Lass - In the money both runs but trainer would be delighted with 5^th and he's a very nice man.
Cities In Dust - The rest wont see him for Dust, they will choke on his Dust and they will die in the desert.
Ritz Fly - Improved form on turf but worryingly bad run on dirt 1^st time out.
Scratch - Trainer has had a sprint winner already and runs this one instead so she must be good. No surprise if she goes close.
Traitor - Leon - get this traitor out of your midst.
Cold Day - Cold Day in Hell if this wins, although she certainly wont be last.
Priceless - 2^nd place is almost priceless and if she repeats her impressive dirt debut, that could be possible.
Rumble On - Has run perfect trials for this over 7f and 1m1f ?! Rumbles will be heard in the Stewards Room if she wins, which she wont, so there wont be any rumbles, so I'll just shut up now.
Zong - The name reminds me of my first bet - 1979 Grand National - Zongalero - he was 2^nd, Zong wont be.

Summary: The first big sprint and the champion elect has already flexed his muscles. Cities In Dust blew the opposition away in the Cammidge Trophy and it will be a major surprise if he doesnt nail the first G1 sprint of Season 8. The race for 2nd is a cracker. Jasmines Hero got with 2L of the Dust and has already won on the dirt. Dirt Track Donkey has been too free in both her races and should go close with more restraint. Priceless ran a great race to finish 2nd on the dirt first time out and a repeat of that could just be enough to take 2nd. A fly in the ointment could be the debutant Scratch, from one of the New breed training stars. The stable has had a sprint winner already so must have a good idea of whats required here.

Verdict:

1^st-Cities In Dust 2^nd-enormous chunk of fresh air. 2^nd for real - Priceless 3^rd - Dirt Track Donkey 4^th - Jasmines Hero 5^th - Scratch

Wk3 R4 Dubai Duty Free

Queen Of Darkness - Finished midfield in both starts. Races too prominent. No show in this. Oppose.
Switched On - Promising debut when 4th in 1m maiden. Finished last of 15 in the Lincoln LTO. Will be outclassed here.
Lucid - In the money in both starts. Trainer confident of a show. Could do well here. E/W.
Mehthaaf - Another slowster and near last finish im affraid. If this was a chase and 13 fell may have a chance. Oppose.
Balnchine - Debut here. Best watched. Trainer does have some nice types though.
Deadly Memories - Two good shows in first two races. Will have to improve though if to be in the money.
Sail The Seas - Consitent in both racecourse visits. Trainer bullish as always. Place prospect at best.
Bea Rush - This wont be in a rush to pass the finishing post first. Making up the numbers. Oppose.
Sweey Child Of Mine - Good debut when winning Portman Road maiden. Loves Dubai. Century Rocks main danger.
West Song - No great form to pose a real threat. Will place at best if she gets the trip.
Flying Elva - Consistent in both starts. Finished third LTO in Old Timers Maiden. Trainer not confident as horse hates dirt. Best watched.
Lyposuction - I will have it if she wins. Shown no real class to prove shes up to this step in class. No chance.
Century Rock - Finished 2nd and 1st from two starts. Looks the one they have to beat. Will have to give weight to the fillies though.
Wake Island - 1/4L behind Century Rock when second in Week 2. Should be therabouts. Will definately place.

Summary - Well a fantastic race we have in store. Another small one which is a shame. Even smaller when you scratch out the dogmeat. It has
to between 3 for me. Century Rock and Wake Island fought out the Old Timers Maiden last week with Century Rock proving the better on the day.
Mr Fullers horse has to be taken into consideration as always. I think Century Rock will win with Wake Island and Sweet Child Of Mine making up the frame.
