It is a rule of thumb born out of our frustration from watching stupid jockies riding our horses. To be honest it has nothing to do with stupid jockies it has to do with an A.I. not being programmed to recognize a field of original horses having capabilities far superior to the abilities of the game horses. I just now realized that it is the real problem here. The jockey A.I. is programmed for game horses and not for an entire field of some of the best bred originals in the world.

With the flexible pace horse a jockey has 5 paces to choose from as opposed to one pace from all others. In a race you have probably a 95% chance of a jockey settling your single-paced horse into it's correct place within a pack. With a flexible paced horse you have a 40% chance of your jockey running it as either frontrunner or a closer. Either way your horse has a very small chance at winning. I'm not saying they aren't run correctly, because both Cmdr Doreen and Queen Latifa, who are flexible paced horses, won the Sterling Awards I believe. But seeing both of them either dying in the stretch or flying from the back of the with no hope of making up the necessary real estate, is heartbreaking. I will still run the aforementioned horses, but many of the others will stay in the stables in the coming season.
