Race 13 Melbourne Cup

Accent - Dual winner this season and has the Lonsdale Cup won already. Big show back at level weights
Amidst - Trainer says nothing special. Who am I to disagree
Blaze Of Light - Lights will be going off a long way from home for this one
Dancing On Turf - Form less than inspiring. Cant have here.
Gone To Moi - Would have a lot better chance in Moi I feel
Jig - Been jigging along quite nicely and almost took Jockey Club Cup. Should be right in this one.
Oakwell Wizard - Finished second last five starts. Doubtful it will win but some show of second I guess
Rabbit Patrol - Would be better off patroling for rabbits
Stratawind - Impeccably bred from the Stratastar/Stratagem bloodline. Consistent and has a show here
Big Papa Pomp - There will be no pomp from this Big Papa here I feel
Double Trigger - Same colours and name as the Downunder horse but nowhere near the class of it.
Lots Of Luck - Will need luck by the bucketloads to figure in this one
Special Feature - Not likely to feature here
To The Future - Excellent fourth in Jockey Club Cup. Similar run might see him snag some prizemoney
Ask Dont Tell - Consistent type but seems to lack that extra something to win its races. Should be thereabouts nonetheless
Daktari - Looks a few lengths off the best here on efforts to date. Might sneak a top ten
Escapism - Smart type and interesting choice of runner. Vallada stayers are first rate however and must be respected here
Jims Son - Not quite as good as his Dad's chance here
Karma - Looking to complete the Aussie double of the Sydney-Melbourne Cup. Very smart type who must be respected on level weights
Leg Up - Will need more than a leg up to feature here I think
Leper On The Loose - Top third in Prix Royal Oak followed by fifth with 6lb penalty in Jockey Club Cup when agitated. Back on level terms here she poses a huge threat.
One Word - Completed hatrick in impressive style winning the Jockey Club Cup. Can make it four in a row here
Sam Peebles - Ebor winner with excellent 14f form. If can take that over to 16f will be a big show here
Want Away Star - Almost stole Prix Royal Oak with great run. Very smart and consistent type who is a real threat here

One of the strongest and most even fields of the season go around for the Melbourne Cup with no fewer than twelve winning chances. With the winning team getting the priviledge of selecting the track for the Loveday Cup there is a lot more on offer than just the win. We have Accent who is the Lonsdale Cup winner, Jig who was runner up in the Jockey Club Cup, Escapism who is a dual winner this season and Leper on the Loose who ran third in the Prix Royal Oak representing the rest of world. We have Ask Dont Tell who was third in the Lonsdale Cup, Karma who won the Sydney Cup, Sam Peebles who won the Ebor and To The Future who ran fourth in the Sydney Cup and Jockey Club Cup representing the rest of europe. We have Oakwell Wizard who has run second its last five starts, Stratawind who ran third in the Jockey Club Cup, One Word who completed a hatrick by winning the Jockey Club Cup and Want Away Star who finished second in the Prix Royal Oak representing england. Its a very tough one to pick with so many impressive types but going on the Jockey Club Cup form here I will tip One Word who is unbeaten in staying races to win from Leper On The Loose who should be able to find the length it lost by with 6lbs less and the consistent Jig to finish third. Cant make an overwhelming case for anything here and this one could see close to a dozen of them within a length of each other at the finish.
