The talking point is probably dodgy photos and im not talking about ESA's girlfriend. 3 very dodgy photos. I copped one but was gifted one and so was Mr Fuller. Padraig copped one which I am not complaining about. The Drunken Irishman beating Funseeker. (Funseeker was the winner) Enny Time beating Kablammo (Kablammo was the winner) Puncture beating Let Them Eat Cake (Let The Eat Cake was the winner) Anyway very happy with my 4 winners Pams Oak, Princess Ellis, Greylami and Puncture. I copped two of the worst rides by far in my SOPL history. Dean McKeown restrained Observation Post as it was the fecking Gold Cup or something and I have no idea what Supple was playing at on Seventies Fashion. A massive WELL DONE to Chris Dean winning 5 of the restricted races and also a couple of placings in them which puts him into the Top 10 I think. Top stuff mate. Good luck to all in The Loveday Cup!!!

And congratulations on a great season you flirted with the title for a good while before Padraig and Dave just pinched some ground on you at the vital time - A big well done to Padraig also for being a superb champion again - just shows how important it is to get that sprinting speed into your lines - superb to see Now Mau win again this week. Also commiserations to Mr Fuller who really pushed Padraig all the way this time and really dominated at around 10f - maybe you just needed another season of SO2 to overhaul the champ. Nice to see a bit of the banter back on the forum, Now who's for a repeat dose of last season and giving the English a spanking again in the Loveday Cup!

It's second place again. Well done Padraig. Your a bloody tough bugger to beat. Luck got you over the line this season and was certainly on your side. I cannot remember a season where I have copped such awful luck. In previous seasons I have come up against superior squads and come up just short but this season I had the best squad. I have no doubt of that. I had the best horses at both 10f and 12f. So many awful rides in key races this season destroyed my chances. Thats what pisses me off about this season. I know I should have won it. I definitely had the stable to win it. Was a case of best horses, worst luck more often than not. Still managed to finish the season on a high. Respect My Authority did what Weekend Hussler should of in the Breeders Cup Classic and Weekend Hussler took the big 12 furlong race. If he didn't get such poor rides in the King George and Breeders Cup Classic and won them it would have been enough to win this season. Broke a SOPL record this week. One set back in season 5 week 3 by JV. That week he won $4.5 million when he went ballistic at Dubai. Eclipsed that figure with $4.9 million this week from my 4 wins, 4 seconds and 3 thirds. Also meant I took the most prize-money for the season and quite easily in the end despite trailing by almost $1 mill going into the week in this category. That's the end of season 8 and of SO2. I will be back for season 9, hungrier and meaner than ever searching for that elusive trainers championship. Special mention to Jay Burke for his outstanding season. Was one champion horse off really challenging the season. This is all his stable lacked. All he needed was a Blue Mondeo, Gormenghast, Cities In Dust, Weekend Hussler or Respect My Authority calibre horse. The support cast was there but the star was missing. Well done to Chris as well. Impressive haul in the restricted grade that has taken you into the top ten. Top stuff. Also well done to Roger Ramjet who clean swept all the major 5f races. He was more dominant at 5f than Padraig was at 6f believe it or not. That is saying something.

I have loved every minute of this season. Loved the banter too. Just wish we could get some consistency with it. Having banter week in / week out helps the week go quicker when waiting for the races. Well done to Roger on his success. Also Leon he has been a great addition to the league and to ESA's bedroom. Their love / hate relationship is fantastic Also a few other newbies I think have a big future in SOPL AzealHeat (Carl) and Kniesh (Vinny). Well done Padraig and Dave. You are both a class above the rest.

Posts: 387 (05/30/08 2:45 PM) SOPL Punter's Hall Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Well done everyone on such an enjoyable season which for me wasnt maybe wat i expected mainly due to the fact nearly every week was good ground and my better horses were firm or soft ground lovers but i cant have it all Also big well done to padraig winning the championship again its quite remarkable the sprint talent u have shown the league i thought i had some decent ones this year that have been blown away easily and to watch now mau win of top weight over daves handicap good thing was a fitting way to see a champion go out . Also i think dave is out of order saying padraig was lucky , my opinion is how can someone be lucky over 17 weeks we all suffer bad rides sometimes i have 3 realistic chances per week and they front run leaving them finishing knowhere which is more frustrating i tell ya looking forward to so3 if i can just get into playing the damn thing Last Edited By: leecara 05/30/08 2:48 PM. Thats what I was eluding to here. Padraig was lucky in the sense he didnt cop as many bad rides as me. Everyone cops bad rides, some with more frequency than others. If the frequency I copped them had been the same as Padraigs it could have well been a different story at seasons end. Luck was a huge factor this season whether you like it or not. More so than any other season IMHO. It was definitely a determining factor in the final outcome of this season. Anyway now the season is over you can download Weekend Hussler and see how good he was at 10f and 12f Oh ESA, tell me where the luck evened itself out for me. I'm over the moon to have won my third title in a row! Seems a long way from week 1 and the jokes about me being in restricted races ;-) Was another titanic battle with DU and I was getting quite worried this week when it came to the handicaps. Then however the mighty Now Mau gave 22 pounds and a beating to Daves handicap good thing and set the seal on his magnificent SOPL career. It was his 16th league win I think and none of them has given me more enjoyment. For the old warrior to effectively seal the title was truly special. Can't agree on the luck issue Dave. Had to recover from zero wins in week 1 courtesy of several bad rides. Had quite a few more over the season - we all did. The difference for me was that with your bad rides - and you did have quite a few - my runners were often the ones to directly benefit while the reverse was not the case. And while Weekend Hussler was THE class act over 12f, the 10f division was an even battle. You have been a great competitor over a lot of seasons now and our rivalry has really kept me going for the past few. If I do not win next time and that is VERY unlikely due to limited game time, I hope you get the title you deserve.. Was a great season for Jay also. As DU says he was only a real superstar or two away from a legitimate title bid. Roger Ramjet took over at 5f, and ESA and Leon were a constant source of great banter. Dcdean had a great seson too with a lot of placed efforts that could so easily have been wins. Cannot mention everyone but congrats and thanks to all who took part. I don't think I will be winning again any time soon. I am doing a big house extension and have had very little time on SO3. I could easily end up in restricted next season which should give everyone a laugh! Having said that, i am in season 9 and have what looks like a really good 6f sprinter so you never know ;-) Cheers, Padraig

Roger was lucky enough to find a quality gamebred sprinter(something which Padraig has seemingly done on SO3 now - Here we go again with the Now Maus, Nemesis Nines ETC!!) and I have no doubt that if Roger had another season or two of SO2 to breed that speed through his lines properly he may even have been challenging DU and Padraig - I certainly think that sprint speed and acceleration and breeding it through lines was the key to success in SO2. That is why it amazes me that Esa had done so well this season and last with largely middle distance and above horses. I certainly expect there to be a few new faces up there in SO3 though with the split into UK, US and Jumps should be interesting - can't wait!

Just as everyone use to joke about Padraig not being able to win past 6f at the beginning, the same joke was about anything of mine at less than 8f.

Posts: 305 (05/31/08 4:23 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	I made mistakes in speeding thru seasons and not keeping an eye on what i was breeding..hence all my horses were held up....and i lost my sprinters and milers.. its so easy to lose blood lines and end up good in only one distance...i learnt this from crazyboy!!!.......no mistakes in S03 though.....I promise!!
