Any idea how to quickly improve the horses jumping ability ??
I long for a horse that jumps very good or better....
Why cant i have a horse that jumps like Istrabraq or Best Mate ??? I have read the small print in the instructions & i am sad that the clause quotes your horse may not jump better or show any improvement...... A horse after schooling will jump better, FACT
It may jump badly but a horse jumps better after training to jump, 1 out 100 jumps brilliantly..... Has anyone had a horse with half the bar full of JUMPING ?

I have had a jump rating of 100% but not sure if that is as good as a bar that is 100%. The horse did win 3 world hurdles and 2 world series as a stallion.
Pretty unlikely in reality but lets hope his offspring are any good. Managed to cross him with a game bred Grand National winner. Lets live in hope that the
offspring are useful

im not sure but i think the rating of 100% relates to how the horse jumped in its last race or races
i e mistake free race...least thats how i see that rating i think the only way to raise the bar is through selective breeding..maybe 2 X 30% bars will make a 40-50% bar in offspring.. at this stage its all supposition but thats my guess..maybe Mark can shed some light Paul |

I am starting to enjoy the game more now, it has its quirks but it is a fantastic game.
Thanks to leon for jockey instructions, my horses are running better now. Just managed to do the champion hurdle/aintree hurdle double with the same horse.

question-jockey insts - dont go clear finish if /when should this be used ? distance / horse type.i noticed the jump bar goes up abit each season as the horse
gets older. i would surgest a apprentice to for your horses a (7)lb off horses back in top feature races might help ...thats if the game allows it.
sometimes you only have the jockeys what the game chooses.

The only time i use 'dont go clear' is to protect the handicap mark, but often the horse gets done on the line in so2.
I have not tried an apprentice yet in so3, does it work for jump racing ? |

I do school my horses for jumps on the gallops and watch them closely. I've improved their jumping ability, although, some horses only improve a very small
amount and will be only hurdlers at best.

I have tried to turn my champion hurdlers & staying hurdlers into chasers but without much success so far, even thotheir is one jumping ability i think
horses are either better hurdlers or chasers, which is a good thing imo.

What I find JV is a lot of the good hurdlers have lower jump bars than the chasers. Maybe the jumo bar is an indication of how high they can jump.

Have found the same. My horse than won 7 grade 1 hurdles had nothing in the jump bar
whereas my horse that won the gold cup had a jump bar of about 30%. I haven't seen higher yet
I have also found that a grade 1 hurdler or chase winner is more than likely useless over the other discipline On another note my horse that I bred from my hurdler champion and the game bred grand national winner cruised home in the Queens vase by 8 lengths . Hopefully this is a good omen for a future over jumps and I have yet to geld
him

i've had two gold cup winners now and have a horse run a the last 7 races and i've noticed that horses closer to the pace seem to do a lot better also
horses do improve for being gelded over the jumps.

Has any one come across better than good describing the horses Jumping Agility Starting in the training screen or is that the highest rating?
Am finally playing my first season proper after finally sorting out my schedule
SC
The Jumps Bar doesnt tie in you get a horse with say a 1 and a half cm's worth and that shows as average jumping then some horses with nothing and they are good

Dont worry about the time of the original post, we all need help to crack this game........
Personally i am still struggling to find which ones are the chasers, I have had many horse with nothing on the chase bar but they are top class and the bar has not changed since day 1 !!! i try the gallops etc but i am non the wiser so i just try to find an easy chance in the calendar to see if they can jump..... (ie claimers sellers or listed races) |

I'm into season11 with the latest patch and original showcase which means I can only get one or two races at the beginning and end of the year, the rest of
the time I gallop them to get an idea of the better ones and hopefully improve their jumping. I also export and trial them in the construction kit (race
builder) once a season. Homebreds tend to have little or nothing in the jumps bar at 2yrs but as they get older it increases in some but not in others. The
only horse I've bred that consistently wins G1's ( 2m hurdles and chase ) was from two game horses the stallion was a G1 5f sprinter and the dam was an
ordinary 3m chaser with about 30% jump bar. Having said that I've bred quite a few that don't even stay 2m.

question for you davy,
when you export the young ones and trial them, how do you determine if there any good, or worth keeping? do you trial them against your older successful horses? cheers

3Y/O horses I trial on their own over 2m and 2m1f hurdles as that seems to be the only races for them in the league judging by the planned schedule. I put the
best 1 or 2 in a separate folder and when that folder starts to fill up I trial them, keep the best and ditch the rest. I also keep a note of the best times
over the same course, distance and going run under G1 conditions for 3Y/Os. If you have a good horse and you trial it against average horses the time it runs
may not be that fast, but if you trial it against other good horses you will see the times reduce dramatically and that's what I'm looking for, the
horse that runs the fastest time.
If you only have a few good horses to trial then a good tip is to make copies of them so as to make up a big field of runners which will be more competitive and bring out the best in your horses. |

I have had exactly 1 champion chaser and 1 champion hurdler. The chaser's jump bar was about twice as high as the hurdler's.
