If I have a distance horse I don't worry so much about acceleration. If I have a sprinter, they claim shorter stride is better. So with starting stalls the
only detriment is heart.

Beach Gallops also gives increases in acceleration as well as stride.

Yup, for increasing acceleration in my distance horses I stick with Beach Gallops. It doesn't train it up as fast as short sprints or starting stalls, but
it has no detrimental effects and usually has positive effects for distance runners ie increased stride, pops in muscle tone, stamina or heart.

My long distance horses still seem pretty slow to me. I have been looking up the record holders for long distance races and am surprised to see that they have
very high ratings on sprints in their training experience. Could that mean those trainers are trainng them as sprinters as 2yos then switching them to long
distance runners as 3yos now that they have their Acceleration up higher than normal Long Distance horses would have?
Also how much do you put stock in record holders also having high ratings in their Long Distance and Epic Distance training experience?

I remember there being a debate as to train in sprints, or starting gate for acceleration. Most liked sprints as there are fewer negative pops. But if you need
gate it takes alot longer.

I reasoned that for my long distance horses, the Gate speed would not be as vital as the Acceleration would be. So Acceleration is what I would really like to
raise on them.

If you look in the help
section it says that Gate Speed is not only responsible for breaking speed but also for your horses manoueverability. As such, I've been trying to up my
long distance horses gate speed as well as acceleration.

short sprints will give you riases in gate speed in acceleration and mucsle tone in vering degries depending the hrs used and how high your horses stats are.
