1....Maximum number of dogs allowed in each kennels will be 45. That many dogs can be viewed on one page in the Race Builder. I need to screen capture those rosters and only want to capture one screen per kennels. I need to create every time saver possible for the duration of the inaugural season. When version 5.0 of the Trainers Office Manager has been created (hopefully in time for season 2) we can move the GPL over there and your kennels could possibly be larger then. Please do not try to slip in an extra dog or two. If they are not on the first roster page, they will not be accepted in any of the races. You might inadvertently push out one or two of your most valued hounds.
2....Deadline for sending in your dog files to jimcougar2006@yahoo.com is TUESDAY OCT. 30TH NOON LOS ANGELES TIME, 8PM LONDON TIME and WEDNESDAY OCT. 31ST 4AM. MELBOURNE TIME. Obviously any trainers in the Melbourne time zone should send theirs in before they turn in for the night on the 30th. SO THAT MEANS TRAINERS, YOU HAVE JUST 8 DAYS TO WRAP UP YOUR KENNELS ROSTERS AND GET THOSE FILES EMAILED IN.
3....Please make sure that on every email you send to me, include your ORLWORLD SCREEN NAME, TRAINER'S NAME & KENNELS NAME. I will not always be able to associate your email address and your real names with your screen names, trainers names, etc.
4....Remember to Export your dogs at PEAK CONDITION and not after a race.
5....Remember to send only ONE FILE FOR ANY OF YOUR DOGS. In other words do not send in Blue Tiger 2yo & Blue Tiger 3yo dog files. It takes time to contact and ask you which one you want to go with. Decide which year of the dog's career you want to compete in the first season and then send in only that file.
Note: If you send in a 2yo dog file in the Inaugural season and you want that same dog to compete in the next season you can only send in its 3yo file in the following season.
6....Please email your dog files in ZIPPED format if at all possible. Please try to send them to me all at once and not several times during this week. It just creates that much more work for me when that is done.
7....Once the deadline on kennels submissions has passed, I will begin to screen capture the kennels rosters. They would be posted a few days after the deadline in a Trainers Kennels Roster forum for all to view.
8....In the next couple of days a season schedule will be posted. You will have time then to post your comments on it.
9....I am looking at a 12 week regular season schedule, plus 2 weeks for a championship competition. There will be no competition during the Christmas holidays.
10...Week 1's schedule along with an Entry Submission thread will then be officially posted MONDAY NOV. 5TH. If SHannaford plans on using his Excel submission form for everyone to use, I will inform you as soon as I find out.
11...Deadline for Week 1's Entry Submissions will be SAT. NOV. 10TH NOON LOS ANGELES TIME, 8PM LONDON TIME and SUN NOV. 11TH 4AM MELBOURNE TIME.
11a..Deadline for each Week's Entry Submissions will be SAT. NOON LOS ANGELES TIME, 8PM LONDON TIME and SUN 4AM MELBOURNE TIME.
12...Make sure that you read the requirements for each race very carefully. Any submitted Entries that do not meet the requirements (i.e. Grade, Age, Sex, etc.) will be scratched.
13...I would like to limit the number of races each week to 10.
14...You will be allowed to submit 2 dogs to each of these races. If there are more than 6 dogs in a race HEATS will be created. Still, every dog might not get into the races that you submit them for because I want to limit the number of HEATS per race to just 2. The reason for this is because I as the RACE SECRETARY will be running possibly 20 HEATS, then 10 SEMI-FINALS and then 10 FINALS. That could total 40 races every week.
15...HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ENTRIES *NEW*
You are allowed to submit a total of *FOUR ENTRIES FOR EACH DISTANCE (This includes Feature Races) THAT ARE TO BE CONTESTED. You will need to download the Nomination Form . It is an Excel spreadsheet.
* This does not mean that all 6 Entries will make the Draw however.
NOTE: MAKE SURE THAT YOU "ENABLE MACROS" IN YOUR EXCEL PROGRAM. OTHERWISE THE NOMINATION FORM WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY.
Email this form to Jim Kennedy at * jimcougar2006@yahoo.com*
16...There will be at least two major events each week. The HEATS and SEMI FINALS will be run one week and the FINALS on the next week. Those FINALS will be in addition to the 10 or so City races for that following week.
17...Week 1's Racecard will be posted the following TUESDAY or WEDNESDAY of every week. That is when you will know which of your dogs were accepted into the various races.
18...RACE DAY every week will be on FRIDAY 10 AM LOS ANGELES TIME, 6 PM LONDON TIME and SATURDAY 4 AM MELBOURNE TIME. At that time the form cards for each race will be added to the race cards in the Weekly Races forum. The race replays for download will be posted in the GPL Inaugural Season forum.
18a..FINALS QUALIFIERS are AUTOMATICALLY ENTERED into the FINALS RACES. Trainers do not need to nominate their Finals qualifiers to the Race Grader in the Nomination form. The Race Secretary will automatically enter them in the Finals races. *NEW*
18b...The NEW PRIZE MONEY TABLE for the Inaugural Season. *NEW*

19...WARNING: No one is to post any comments about the race results in the main area of the GPL Inauguration Season forum until 8 hours after the posting of the formcards. The reason for this is to not spoil the results for our Melbourne time zone Trainers who will still be asleep when they are posted. All Trainers CAN however, post anything they like in the BRAG N' RAG PUB thread posted at the top of the forum. Melbourne time zone Trainers will know to stay out of the Brag n' Rag Pub until they have viewed the formcards and the race replays for themselves
20...Denny Stables as a Tipster will run the Punters Hall forum until we can find a volunteer for that position. Once you see the race cards feel free to place your bets with him.
21...All Punters will start off with $50,000. Whoever has the most winnings at the end of the season will be the PUNTER OF THE YEAR.
22...All other contests in the Punters Hall will be created by Denny Stables and his successor.
23...ALLNEW TRAINERS are allowed to join the GPL anytime during the Inaugural Season.
24...There will be a MID-SEASON ROSTER CHANGE. Trainers will be able to swap out a maximum of 20 dogs during that time.
25...All dogs regardless if they competed in the TRIALS and/or the EXHIBITION are allowed to compete in the INAUGURAL SEASON.
26...All Trainers who competed in the EXHIBITION are allowed to keep 50% of their winnings. The Trainers Bank Account thread will be adjusted accordingly. That is the ORLWorld's way of saying thanks for helping us iron out all of the kinks for this new ORLWorld league and new league-only Race Builder.
27...For any Trainers who may be concerned about getting blown out of the water right from the beginning of the season. Don't be concerned about that. Many of you are new to this game and have very young kennels. Our Race Grader will sort the races so that regardless of the calibre of dogs in the Trainers' kennels, they will all have races that they will feel competitive in throughout the season. The idea is to give all Trainers a taste for the competition so that they are encouraged to continue building up their bloodlines for many seasons to come.
28...How to Export Your Files.
From the Greyhound Manager Instructions Manual...
5.2.1. Exporting Dogs
"You may export an owned dog at any time. The dog is exported along with it's current state of fitness/condition etc. Dogs may not be re-imported into a game but they may used later in 'constructed' races (including possible online competitions). See section 6.
An exported dog is saved along with your chosen tactics so be sure to set them before clicking the EXPORT button. For example. You may wish to email you dog file (the resulting files are very small) to a league master for who would then import you dog along with other users dogs and race them. He would then make available the replay file so all competing trainers could watch the race
Exported dog files are stored in the .\EXPORTS\DOGS folder. All dog files have the .dog extension and are names using the trainers (players) name followed by an underscore and then the dogs name. For example: 'dave_mark of zorro.dog' is a valid dog file name. These files can be copied or emailed as you wish.
Note that Greyhound Manager exports folder is located in a folder allocated by your operating system. This folder is displayed on the Construction Kit main menu. You will need to browse this folder to locate your exported dogs or to copy a league race to the 'leagueraces' folder."
The Race Builder stated that mine could be found in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\greyhound manager\exports\dogs folder. The files not only show you the names of the dogs, but also the year of their lives in which they were competing in.
Locate the desired files and attach them to an email and ship them off. It is as easy as that. If you exported a dog for every year that he/she competed in then they would be able to compete in seasonal multiplayer competition for each of those years. That works very well in the Starters Orders Pro League for SO2 players.
29...VIEWING A LEAGUE REPLAY RACE *NEW*
Click on the VIEW A RACE button from the construction kit menu.
Note: If you are emailing or transferring league race files you will have to manually copy the file into the correct folder.
To view a league race replay make sure you have placed the replay file(s) in the c:/document and settings/all users/application data/greyhound manager/exports/league races.
Select a race to view by clicking on its title in the STORED RACE FILES table.
The selected races race card will now be displayed in the SELECTED RACE FIELD. The race card is a similar format to race cards within the game. League races can include past performances for the runners. If so you will be able to click on the FORM field to reveal the selected dogs form cards. League races may also include the dogs Lineage (if the dog was player bred) if the dog has a small red L icon preceding its name you may click this to reveal the dogs lineage details.
Note: league races may have trainer comments attached. A small white N icon next to the race file name in the STORED RACE FILES table indicates there are trainer comments for this race. To view these comments you simply move the mouse over the trainers name in the SELECTED RACE FIELD table and the comments will appear.
Click the VIEW RACE button to watch the race or to just view the form card click the VIEW FORMCARD button.
30...READING AND UNDERSTANDING THE RACE CARD *NEW*
This screen is central to analysing the current race for betting purposes. As usual, YELLOW fields can be clicked. Each race card contains a box for each dog in the race. These boxes contain some basic information on the dog plus details of the dogs last six runs.
The first line contains the following data:
Trap No.............................The trap the dog runs from.
Name + (W)ide ind.............The dogs name. If the dog has a tendency to run wide it may
.........................................Have a (W) next to its name.
Grade...............................The current grading of the dog (not displayed if race is for a
.........................................Specific grade (eg A9 means dogs graded 9 only).
Season.............................The dogs strike rate and winnings this season.
Trainer..............................The trainer of this dog.
Age/Sex
Weight..............................The dogs weight.
Handicap...........................If a handicap race, this is the dogs advantage (in lengths).
.........................................scratch means the dog starts from the back..
There then follows details of up to six previous races. The fields are as follows (from left to right):
Date/Track.......................The date of the run plus the track (abbreviation).
Dist.................................The distance the race was run over in meters. A indicates a
........................................Hurdle race.
T.....................................The trap the dog ran from.
Brk-T...............................Break time. This is an indicator of the early speed of the dog. It
.......................................Is the time (measured in seconds) to a certain point on the
......................................track. A lower break time indicates a dog with faster early pace.
POS.................................Positions during race. The dogs position in the field is recorded
.......................................At intervals during the race. So 644 indicates the dog was 6th,
.......................................Then 4th and then 4th again. The last item is not the final
.......................................Finishing position of the dog.
Fin...................................Finishing position.
Dist..................................Distance won or beaten by.
Winner/second.................The name of the winning dog, or if the winner, then the second.
Running remarks................Description of the dogs run (see 7.4).
W-T.................................The winners time.
G.....................................Going. From 30 (slow) to +30 (fast).
Wgt.................................The dogs weight.
Odds................................The odds (or starting price) for the dog.
Class................................The class of race. eg. Graded race, trial etc. If this race was a
.........................................Feature race final a small cup icon will be displayed. If this
.........................................Race was a feature heat or semi-final the cup will be dimmed.
.........................................Note: if a number in brackets follows this indicates the dogs
.........................................Grade at the time of the race. A H in brackets indicates a
.........................................hurdle race.
CLC-T.................................Calculated Time. If the dog won then this time will be the same
.........................................as the winning time. Otherwise it will indicate the calculated
.........................................time that it took for this dog to pass the post. A icon indicates
.........................................this time is the fastest of all the dogs in the current race at the
.........................................specific distance (of the current race). Handicap race times are
........................................not taken into account (due to the staggered start). For flat
........................................races, hurdle race times are not taken into account and for
........................................hurdle races flat race times are not taken into account (due to
........................................hurdle races taking slightly longer to complete).
31..READING AND UNDERSTANDING FORMCARD COMMENTS *NEW*
From the Greyhound Manager Instructions Document
The form comments give a textual summary of how a dog ran in a race and is a very useful tool for evaluating form. These comments are made up partly of abbreviations and here is a full explanation of those abbreviations used in the game:
EP.................................Early Pace.
Qaw..............................Quickly away.
Saw...............................Slowly away.
Msd brk...........................Missed the break.
Outpcd...........................Outpaced.
Prmnt.............................Prominent.
Aprmnt...........................Always prominent.

An example of a dogs comments follows:

This means the dog was slowly away and last at half way. The dog was then crowded 200m from the finish before running on.
I may have missed some things so please feel free to post any questions that you still may have after reading this announcement.
