Fear not. We have not stopped work on move of the GPL to TOM. Dave is working on the programming of the weekly race schedule that you all will be nominating your dogs to. We see the ranking criteria for making it into a race as the Grade, Time at that distance & Number of Races Won and in that order. You could nominate a single dog for two different races and TOM would accept that dog in the race that best suited him/her based on their ranking compared the rankings of its competition...

As Jim has noted, we have come a long way in a short period of time. So far, I've been able to make minor changes so that we are using the same system with different values for the different leagues. However, I suspect we will need to develop a separate process for nominations - in SOPL, each race is identified at the start of the season where as in GPL we may need to be more flexible with races over a set distance and the number of races determined by entries etc. The other absolute...

LOL Well Dave is now telling that some "logic" can be programmed into TOM that would make the race allocations pretty interesting. I'll let him formulate exactly what could be done in his estimation before I report it to you.

It just occured to me that the proposal above on how players could enter dogs into the races, is how we players submitted our dogs to races in Greyhound Manager. We do not submit our dogs to the Race Grader and then wait to see which were accepted for which distance races. The races appear a few days in advance and we enter dogs that we have that qualify for them. When the 6 traps are filled, the race is closed. Its as simple as that. So Thats how simple we...

There is a challenge ahead of Dave and I though and that is how to set up the races and the season race schedule in TOM. I think the simplest way to do it in GPL 2 is to do what we just begun to do in the GPL 1 and that is have just a certain number of distances contested each week. These are the thoughts I had, that I communicated to Dave on this area;

Just to add to this post, I'm working with Jim to integrate the GPL with TOM.

At present, I've added upgraded the logon process to handle multiple leagues and have also finished the upload process ie adding dogs to TOM. I still need to upgrade the edit details page so you can change the dog details eg sex, pref distance etc. This won't take long.

The upload process was the last major functionality added to the original TOM and this is the heart of automating...

A warning that I am in the process of modifying TOM to handle multiple leagues including - potentially - the Greyhound Pro League.

The logon process and menus on the TOM Main menu have already been updated and you shouldn't notice any changes although I've changed some of the wording.
