Just thought I'd like to make an organised thread where players of Gallop Racer 2004 & 2006 could download helpful stat cards and horse career planner files.

I do not take credit for making these files. Its just that Jim Cougar fixed some broken links where these files were at.

I was racing this Saturday in free mode against my cousin (his monsters against mine). We were running a 12 furlong race (forgot which one) with two frontrunners with the first (Front) arrow on their Leg Type being fully light and the second (Prdcr) half light, one having 99+ speed, 99 staying, 99++ stamina, Rsp, Power, and Breaking in the low 90s, the rest over 84. The other having 94 speed, 99++ stamina, 96 Feel, 93 staying, 94 Temper, 90 Power, the rest in the 80s. Needless to say, any...

Has this ever happened to anyone? Look closely. See anything odd about this field? Take a look at horse #3. Yes, Ebony Groove is a COLT entered in a FILLIES ONLY race! He is even weighted higher than the fillies.

The Bar Drops Here...But Why?

During the race, I notice something very annoying...
The blue bar I now know is the Potenital Bar, drops quite fast coming around the final corner for some of my horses.
And on others it drops slowly or not at all on the final turn
I dont understand why it differs so much from race, to horse, to conditions

I have decided that this ability is a MUST for my future champions so I decided to breed Easter Knife. I finally got some foals out of him having the Pack passer ability, which will match perfectly with some speedy mares I have in the shed with Strong Heart and Close Race OK as their main abilities, but I have a major problem:

All those Eastern Knife foals have similar (ok, much better) stats to their father, i.e. huge stamina (95+), very low response and breaking, and speed in the...

Activating Abilities

Even though it is very clear how to activate certain abilities, like last corner leader, gate rocket, etc, I am having a very difficult time activating the following abilities:

Closer: Where exactly and how it is activated? Every time I've done it I believe it was random!

Second Wind: What does this "at its own pace" mean? Do I have to go fast? Slow? Do I just have to let the horse relax in the front without pushing it back and forth?

Special SS Horses

Has anyone else encountered this situation?

I am in year 37 of my game. I have noticed in the past couple of game years that the three trainers that receive the Special SS horses (Franc, Silver and Pink) have had fewer and fewer Special SS horses available. This coming year they DO NOT HAVE ANY Special SS 2 year-olds available! Is my game setting me up for a fall or what?

I have been concentrating more on racing my originals than the game horses. Does this have any...

I find it amazing that some years the game horse's offered are somewhat lacking while other years it is just unbelievable. I am currently racing my 30th year. Here is how this years Louisville Derby lined up:

I have recently finished racing my 27th season. During the season I raced two fillies that were nearly unbeatable. One was a game horse, and the other was an original. Below are the season records for the two horse's. One of them was named Horse of the Year and 3 year old filly champ. The other received NO year end honors. Can you guess which one was the champ? I will give you the answer next week.

Jockey abilities

Hi all,

I lost my copy of GR 2004 for about a year, and when I found it again, I fell right back in, frustrated by how much I [i]once[/i] knew but have forgotten.

What I'm hoping for is advice on getting the jockey abilities - particularly windmill whip. I can't even get that one started, and I'm not sure how I managed to begin a couple of the others. The only one I've gained after a full first year is Cornering.

Appreciate any help!

Can you give me some advice? I've got it down when to whip for GR2003, but for 2004, I remember that it is a little different.

When is the best time to spurt, and then to whip for GR2004? For each leg type? Now that 2006 has been out for a while, I'm hoping someone will see this. I actually play all versions of the game, since they're so different.

Does anyone else have loads of trouble racing them? It seems like all of my 2yos that I bred tend to rapidly lose speed instead of spurt at the end of races, no matter how much whipping/urging with up I do. Even when they do get past the slow stage, even if they're the favorite, I tend to lose.. quite often.

I currently have 3 two year olds, and the dirt horse I've been racing on turf that gets awful odds does MUCH better than the favorite turf racers. I usually have trouble with two...

I would love to know if anyone has done this...

If you got to stable - home - you get to a page with your jockey stats on , shows relationships with trainers too and also jockey stats and abilities , most of us have all the jockey abilities (like masterful & cornering) , but does any one have the 'Rough One' ability if you have it will say 'get' next to it , i have 2 blue bars on this ability but have alll the others , but my two blue bars never change!

Any ideas , or...
